They Paved Paradise and Put Up A Parking lot!

Wednesday, July 15th, 2009

I recently visited the small town I grew up in near Rochester, New York.  Growing up it was an area similar to central Vermont.  It was an area rural in character where everyone knew everyone else was a wonderful thing. The similarities between my Norman Rockwell home town and places throughout Vermont are incredible.  That is what attracted me to Vermont.

My former home town (which was alot like (Rochester, Vermont) is mostly developed now and is simply a bedroom community.  For old time sake I drove by the sand lot Little League field of my youth.  I spent hours there as a kid and loved every minute.  It was sad to see that it had been paved over for a parking lot.

Things like that truly make you appreciate the simple everyday things we often take for granted here in Vermont.  I have traveled extensively all over the world but the more I travel, the more I appreciate Vermont.

There was an outstanding article about the Valley in the New York Times recently.  Warren has an outstanding Fourth of July parade and celebration beginning at 10 AM in Warren Village.  While you are there you can check out an awesome property on Hamilton House Drive.  See www.WarrenHamiltonHouse.com for details.
