The Barre Opera house has long been a cornerstone of the community. Serving more than just opera, the venue works as a public meeting space as well. Over the years time has dealt its blows to the opera house, opened in Barre Vermont in 1899 after a fire destroyed it in 1898. A constant work in progress the last decade has brought a full service box office, state-of the-art lighting, modern heating and cooling, and other aesthetic improvements.

The Barre community benefits tremendously from the Barre opera House, one of the area’s finest landmarks. While the diverse offerings are fabulous to enjoy, the wonderfully restored building itself is deeply rooted in the area’s history.
