The Barre VT community is set to benefit from this weekend’s festivities.  RockFire is a celebration like none other, touted as a “Granite Heritage Festival for the Whole Family”, covering art, and benefiting Barre’s historic quarry lands.  The festival will showcase some stunning sculptures from a wide variety of artists, music,  and fire.

RockFire will take place at the Millstone Hill’s granite quarries, hosted by the Millstone Trails Association.  The event will kick off this Friday, June 21st and and run through Sunday, June 23rd.  One of the festival’s signature events is its FireWalk.  The FireWalk is a two mile procession lit by more than a thousand luminaries. This year the procession will feature six stage areas and twelve different musicians.  Other highlight of FireRock include an artists walk, historic quarry wagon tours and free admission to the granite museum.

There are a myriad of events in and around Barre VT throughout the summer and RockFire is a unique festival celebrating the history of the Central Vermont area.

Killington to Receive Facelift

Killington is to receive a facelift before the upcoming ski season. Millions of dollars are being invested into Killington Resort and nearby Pico Mountain, enhancing the facilities and the programs and bringing a great deal to our community as an added bonus. Keeping up with the competition is an important aspect of competing in the ski industry these days and The Beast already has a strong foundation to start with as it remains one of Vermont’s favorite ski areas.

The improvements at Killington include the new Peak Lodge being built on the mountain which will offer dining, a bar, comfortable seating and views galore. Waterbury VT, Local Artists Showcased

Local artists are showcased in Waterbury VT. The Central Vermont area has a lot of artists and artisans who live here and Waterbury is a town which is very cognizant of the need to display the works of our local artists. A new gallery in town has space dedicated to artists from the Waterbury area, determined that works should be available for viewing and to buy all year round.

Waterbury VT is known for its art, holding the annual Waterbury Art festival each summer as well as Art in the Alley events which take place on the last Wednesday of the month in June, July and August. Killington Real Estate: Summer Activities for Kids

 Killington real estate benefits tremendously from the numerous summer activities available for kids.  The mountains in Vermont lend themselves well to summer adventure and here in the Killington area we are lucky enough to have a Parks and recreation department that is dedicated to providing a little something for all interests.

Registration is open for summer camps in Killington and here are some of the offerings:

  • D&J Music Camp – open to students in grade kindergarten through 6 and spanning all ability levels this camp offers junior musicians the opportunity to try out a variety of musical instruments and acquire basic theoretical knowledge of music, including songwriting. The D&J Music Camp will take place on Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 12-noon, July 16 – August 13 at the Johnson Recreation Center. Cost: $65, plus an optional $5 materials fee (families may choose to bring items to waive the $5 materials fee.)
  • Superhero Camp – for ages 4 to 7.  Games, games, arts and crafts projects, and lessons in trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship will help make well-rounded superheroes this summer. The kids will learn to sling webs like Spiderman, create masks and shields for their costumes, and learn how to jump tall buildings among other skills. Superhero Camp takes place August 5-8 from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. at the Johnson Recreation Center. Camp is available for 3, 4, or 5 days, and the fee is $100, $120, and $140 respectively.
  • All About Learning Camp – for grades 1 through 8, will allow kids to utilize science, technology, engineering, and mathematics concepts and 21st Century educational skills of critical thinking, problem solving, collaboration, agility and adaptability, curiosity and imagination. Killington will offer two such camps – Junior Engineering 1 (for grades 1-3) and Collision Cars (grade 4-8).  The fee for both courses is $120 for residents and $125 for non-residents.
  • Kids Boot Camp – for kids 7 and older. This fun camp will focus on teamwork, endurance, strength, speed and agility drills. The one-hour class includes a warm up, cool down and stretching. This camp takes place on Wednesdays from 10-11 a.m., July 9 – Aug. 14 at the Johnson Recreation Center. The fee for the six sessions is $40 or there will be a drop-in fee of $8.

While there are people who plan on paying cash for a home, more often than not a buyer is looking to secure a loan. This process is much easier is you know what to expect. Barre has a lot going on at the moment and the end result of the current projects will be more jobs and vibrancy in the downtown core to match.
