Barre Vermont is for Lovers on Valentine’s Day, by John Biondolillo

Marcia and I attended the annual Barre Opera House Valentine’s Gala at Lucia’s Restaurant the other night. On our way home we drove by the beautiful park in downtown Barre.  The trees were lit up brightly and the Gazebo sported a big red heart.

Unseasonably warm weather and lower than normal snowfall amounts have put the damper on Barre’s snow sculpture contest but not on Barre’s spirit. Barre is a great place to live. Centrally located just 6 miles from the state capital of Montpelier and less than an hour from Burlington, VT, people choose to live Barre for the culture, outdoor activities and convenient location….not to mention the wonderful spirit of the citizens and merchants.

Time Running Out For First Time Buyers

The clock is winding down on the $8,000 Federal Tax credit for first time Vermont home buyers.  This free cash incentive is available for first time buyers who purchase by November 30th.  You must actually close by that date to qualify. Given that the typical home buying process in Vermont is 45 to 60 days, the window of opportunity to get a new home under contract is only a few more weeks.

Economic indicators are telling that the economy is on the upswing.  That fact combined with historically low mortgage interest rates and an $8,000 tax credit means now is the time to buy. Simply Delicious opens in new Barre VT location

Simply Delicious has a new home.  The BCK Commercial Real Estate Division representing the Vermont Granite Museum has leased the historic Pinsley Depot to Simply Delicious.

Simply Delicious is a unique Vermont food & specialty shop located in the heart of central Vermont. For 20  years they have earned a reputation throughout Vermont and beyond for exceptional variety of Vermont products and gifts.  They carry a complete line of gourmet VT foods as well as bulk candy and chocolates as well as a full range of special gifts.

The Pinsley Depot building in Barre has just undergone a major restoration.  The new store features wonderful woodwoork, unique architectural details and a classic high ceiling.  It is truly a showcase and combined with the central Vermont Visitor Center also located at Pinsley Depot will soon become a central attraction in Barre.  While you are there, be sure to pick up lunch at Bag Ladies.
